About the role

Great opportunity to join a well-established team in the role of Specialist Training Development.  Reporting to the Superintendent Training Development, you will provide excellence in the design and development of training and development packages, underpinned by a sound understanding of the training needs analysis process and strong instructional design skills. The position will be based in the Adelaide office, working a 5/2 roster.

In this role you will: 
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups or consultation with key stakeholders
  •  Provide subject matter expertise to the business in  the capability development of individuals, teams and business units
  • Design and deliver and/or source learning and development programs for employees and in scope contractors ensuring training materials and resources are contemporary, fit for purpose, to ensure learning transfer takes place
  • Apply sound instructional design practices to ensure training is engaging and effective across multiple platforms and methodologies (online, face to face)
  • Understands the legislative and regulatory environment in which we operate and the ability to reflect these requirements in compliant training packages
  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders to perform training needs analysis 
  • Proactive contractor management in accordance with BHP’s contractor management framework




About You

You will have previously worked in similar training roles, with demonstrated understanding of adult learning theory and practice and you can draw on contemporary sources to assure best practice in learning and development solutions. Ability to research legal, regulatory, company and other relevant requirements from multiple sources, which you can translate into outstanding training and development outcomes.

A track history of working within corporate, regulatory and HSE frameworks to ensure the design and development of training and assessment activities are executable, compliant and effective. It is important that you are able to produce quality curriculum and course design, including assessment methodology that enhances learning experiences. Demonstrated project management discipline across the project lifecycle (from inception to completion) will be beneficial for this position.

Your attention to detail and first class organisation skills, enable you to proactively establish priorities and meet time critical deadlines.   Additionally, you consider yourself a self-starter who works well in a team and is at ease in building relationships with a range of stakeholders. 

A Certificate IV in Training & Assessment is required for this position and having a tertiary qualification in adult education would be highly regarded.
