About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance and Water, in the capacity of Superintendent Camp Maintenance, you will lead the NPI Camps Maintenance team driving the safe and cost effective execution of all maintenance activities for BHP maintained assets in the Eastern Pilbara portfolio.   This key Leadership role will positively influence and shape culture to ensure a safe, productive, quality, sustainable and disciplined approach to work. Working effectively and efficiently with key stakeholders, this position will collaborate and consult with other Maintenance teams, Camp Operations, Supply, MCoE and Reliability Teams to:
  • Optimise and execute maintenance plans
  • Ensure consistent application of 1SAP processes to ensure safe and effective execution of maintenance work
  • Uphold work schedules, relevant standards and procedures to meet required level of equipment availability and statutory/legislative compliance
  • Engage contractors, suppliers and vendors and ensure safe provision of maintenance services
  • Set the standard of quality for maintenance activities and monitor their performance
  • Monitor all contractor work activities to ensure efficient and cost effective use of resources

About You

To be successful in this role you will be an extremely collaborative and strategically minded leader with high level influencing and stakeholder engagement skills. You are team oriented and results focused with a demonstrated track record in working with others to achieve results.

In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:  
  • Trade, Diploma or Degree level or equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
  • Experience in site statutory competencies as referenced in the site health and safety management system and/or BHPB policies
  • A proven track record of safety management
  • Knowledge or experience in the principles and concepts related to operating and maintaining of infrastructure assets 
  • Working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate success in a leadership role will be highly regarded however we will also consider a high potential individual with clear leadership aspirations

Location   The role has options for fly-in fly-out 5:2 / 4:3 roster (Perth to Newman) or Newman residential.
Eastern Pilbara – FIFO – Warrawandu Village You will be based at our new ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 5:2 / 4:3 roster. Jimblebar is the first Greenfield mine in over 40 years to be both developed and operated by BHP Billiton Iron Ore and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia.  The outstanding facilities at the brand new FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 3G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.  

Newman In this residential role you will be based in Newman, Western Australia.  The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies
