About the role

We are seeking a Site Improvement Superintendent to join our team at South Walker Creek Mine. Reporting to the General Manager, you will have the opportunity to showcase your business improvement, analytical and leadership skills at an operational mine site.  You will be part of the Site Leadership Team with significant influence over the continuous improvement of the site and execution of the operational plans.

This exciting opportunity will see you lead a team of improvement and information specialists to deliver high impact site initiatives (including Breakthroughs) and key reporting and data systems.

In this role you will:
  • Analyse current processes and identify improvement opportunities at the site and department level;
  • Maintain and improve site data reporting processes, information capture and transfer to support timely decision making and business analysis;
  • Partner with the Site Leadership Team to develop and execute the annual business plan;
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with the BMC Operating System and support the implementation of the BHP Operating Systems;
  • Ensure alignment and continuity of site based improvement discipline and process;
  • Continue to support the development of Continuous improvement capability across site; 
  • Assist to develop and embed a culture of financial based decisions that guide the departments to achieve key site targets; and
  • Lead and support recovery plans at site to meet targets in the event of unplanned events with large safety or productivity impact.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Mineral Processing, Business, Finance or equivalent industry and/or organisational experience in data analysis and improvement;
  • Experience in a relevant role;
  • Ability to understand business goals and translate into site strategy and tactical plans;
  • Experience leading and mentoring teams and an ability to provide leadership and development of team members;
  • Demonstrated project management experience;
  • Well-developed analytical skills that provide a basis for credible, quality reporting; and
  • A proven track record of safety management.
