About the role

A newly created role as Superintendent Contracts is now available at our Broadmeadow underground coal mine. Join the experienced leadership team and utilise your contract management to take an active part in building this function on the front line of this successful operation.

As the Superintendent Contracts you will be the first point of contact for any queries regarding a large BMA vendor contracts, directly on site. Working closely with our Supply Division, as well as other important stakeholders, you will comprehensively manage and control the Contractor Management Process and Systems for site.

Responsibilities include:

  • Set the site’s expectation within the Safety and Health Management System and Contractor Management obligations for the site;
  • Audit and enforce compliance with the site’s Safety and Health Management System and Contractor Management obligations on site;
  • Chair and attend internal and external meetings and ensure the performance and commercial objectives are met, including keeping accurate records of any discussions and actions;
  • Produce and analyze contractor performance reports, updated costs and forecasts;
  • Ensure correct commercial engagement of contractors and subcontractors;
  • Implement the risk management process, review risk register and check risk controls;
  • Assist and Advise in the management of contract initiation, scope development, tendering, implementation and completion requirements for site;
  • Maintain the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of HS&E procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligations;
  • Audit HS&E responsibilities and duties of site personnel, check understanding and provide training as necessary;
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with and the continual improvement of the Mine Operating Systems and Safety and Health Management Systems; and
  • Manage alignment and continuity of site based improvement discipline and process. Continue to monitor and maintain high standard of quality within the department.

About You

To be successful in this role can demonstrate extensive experience in managing large contracts in the mining industry and ideally hold a relevant tertiary degree. Knowledge of the ‘Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999’ is highly desirable, as well as relevant site experience in a coal mining production environment.

In addition, you are comfortable in working off large contractual agreements and are able to write and present legal documentation in accordance with the contract requirements. Organising your workload autonomously and timely, as well as communicating with influence are attributes, which will make you successful in this role.
