About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Superintendent Drill and Blast to join our Saraji operations. In this role you will be responsible for the safety, volume and costs of the department, whilst providing strong contract management support to BMA’s contracting partner running the Drilling operation.

You will be a dynamic leader with a strong safety focus, with the confidence to lead our team. Reporting to the Manager Production Overburden you will also be responsible for the following:
  • Lead, coach & mentor a team of supervisors to ensure delivery against performance & safety targets within the Drill and Blast Production Execution team;
  • Build & maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business to ensure drill and blast plans are aligned to business goals & are delivered as per schedule, on time & within budget;
  • Builds cross-functional relationships with the Operational sub-functions to support the delivery of drill and blast plans;
  • Shovel and dragline blast fragmentation in accordance with the Drill and Blast Plan;
  • Resolving resourcing and scheduling issues to deliver the plan;
  • Providing input into all planning horizons;
  • Manage statutory obligations;
  • Analyze variances, trends, risks and opportunities across shifts, highlighting operational performance issues to management; and
  • Drive continuous improvement and challenge the status quo.

About You

As the Superintendent Drill and Blast, you will have demonstrated capability in a large scale open cut mining operation and strong experience and knowledge of blast techniques and management procedures, paired with your exposure to contracts management.

The nature of the role requires you to be a strong people leader, a forward thinker while maintaining laser focus on process operating discipline. A background in leading high performing teams with a strong workplace safety compliance focus will be critical to the success of this position.
