The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore.

About the role

The Drill and Blast Superintendent position will provide leadership and direction as well as oversee, develop, supervise and execute the Drill & Blast work plan in order to achieve the production schedule.

Reporting to the Manager Mining, this role will develop and build the capability of the Drill and Blast team as well as support best practice through developing and embedment of functional systems, monitoring key performance measures and sustaining continuous improvement processes.

This position is fundamental in order to positively influence and shape our culture at South Flank to ensure a safe, inclusive and high performing approach to work across the Mining department.

About You

To be successful for this role, you will have Mining experience within a large-scale open pit mining operation, preferably leading drill and blast function.  You are an influential leader with outstanding interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to develop meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders’ at all organisational levels.

It would be considered for the role you will hold a valid Quarry Manager Certificate or eligibility to qualify for WA Unrestricted Quarry Managers certificate as well as the Dangerous Goods Act & Regulations.
