The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore.

About the role



Under the guidance of the Mine Manager this role will lead one of the Load and Haul teams at South Flank.  As the Load and Haul Superintendent, you will be accountable for the safe execution of the mine plan whilst driving the culture of a team, in excess of 120 members.

You will be expected to leverage the BHP Operating Systems and Processes to drive business outcomes.  Sound technical skills and operational experience will be core for this role as a subject matter expect, as well as being a strong collaborator with a structured approach to problems.

This role will also see you involved in ramp up and commissioning activities throughout the first 12 months of your tenure.  It is an exciting opportunity to join our South Flank leadership team, utilising your leadership experience to drive results whilst fostering a safe working environment.

About You



To be successful in this role, you will be an impactful leader and an advocate for our BHP values; Safety, Inclusion and Diversity.  Your previous experience in leading large teams will be highly regarded.  A background from an open pit-mining environment including large-scale expansions or start-ups will be highly advantageous. 


A proven track record in safety management and leading teams to contribute to a zero harm culture along with good working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations will also see you succeed in this role.

This role will be based on a foundation roster of 5 days on, 2 days off / 4 days on, 3 days off / 9 days on, 5 days off and is fly-in-fly-out of Perth.

 
Due to COVID-19 and corresponding border closures across Australia, you ideally must be located in Western Australia or be prepared to move to Western Australia for this opportunity.  Further information will be provided throughout the recruitment process.
