About the role

We are actively seeking a dynamic, professional and inclusive leader to join our team. Reporting to the Manager Rolling Stock Maintenance, you will be responsible for leading the Locomotive Maintenance team to safely achieve precision maintenance of a fleet of more than 180 SD70Ace locomotives. In this capacity, key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading a maintenance team and continuing to build on a strong leadership foundation within the supervisor group.
  • Delivery of an inclusive culture based on trust care and accountability to safely deliver high performance in all areas.
  • Delivery of precision maintenance through the service and overhaul of the SD70 Ace Locomotive fleet.
  • Implementation of standardised work practices across all tasks for the servicing and overhaul of locomotives.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient execution of delivery work schedules in accordance with the work management process and in line with all statutory and quality requirements.
  • Continuing a strong focus on continuous improvement in all areas.
  • Developing, coaching and monitoring safety culture with a focus on the basics.
  • Monitoring Maintenance performance through the weekly review of the 1SAP KPI’s and ensuring actions to sustainably address root causes are agreed, prioritised, assigned and followed through.
  • Ensuring all facilities, equipment and tools are sufficient, safe, and fit for purpose to the safe execution of maintenance activities
  • Demonstrating and instilling an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Involved in commercial management of key suppliers.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be a team oriented and results focused Individual with a demonstrated track record of compliance and safety leadership.In addition, we are ideally looking for the following specific skills and experience:
  • Engineering qualification at Trade, Diploma or Degree level or equivalent industry and organisational experience
  • Manufacturing or Rail experience desirable
  • A proven track record of safety and culture leadership.
  • A proven track record in maintenance delivery.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • C Class drivers licence
Location Residential: In this residential role, you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.  The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

FIFO:For a FIFO applicant the roster would be a 5:2 – 4:3 from Perth.
