Our Operations

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on an 8/6 roster, with residential or FIFO options available.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Mine Development, this position is responsible for the management, leadership and coordination of activities within the Mine Development team. This includes safety, production, quality, cost control, people, communication, and achievement of department targets. The Superintendent Mine Development role will take on responsibility for primarily face-advance and associated remediation work, performing a span of control role by leading a sizeable team, in operating development plant, equipment and infrastructure. Olympic Dam has both owner operator and contract development teams.

  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to the Development team through Time In Field activities
  • Coordinate and communicate development activities in line with department targets
  • Oversee compliance with operating standards, procedures, work instructions and defined processes to achieve optimal outcomes.

About You

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
  • Previous supervisory experience of sizeable teams within the underground mining work environment
  • Strong focus and commitment to upholding operating disciplines
  • Confident communicator who can effectively engage internal and external stakeholders, influencing and driving decision makers to ensure deadlines are met and actively hold accountability
  • Tertiary/Technical qualifications in relevant field and/ or a First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency are desirable.
