The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore.

About the role

The Mining Services Superintendent position is an active in field role key in demonstrating visible safety leadership, building team capability and providing clear direction through the promotion of best practice work systems and processes.  

Under the guidance of the Manager Mining, you will be responsible for monitoring performance, budgets and resources to effectively deliver the mine plan, whilst keeping abreast of legislative requirements and improvement initiatives.

This position is fundamental in order to positively influence and shape our culture at South Flank to ensure a safe, inclusive and high performing approach to work across the Mining department.

About You

To be successful in this role, your previous experience in leading large teams will be highly regarded.  Your background may be from a large-scale open pit-mining environment, or similar industry. Experience in large-scale expansions or start-ups will be highly advantageous. A proven track record in safety management and leading teams to contribute to a zero harm culture invaluable, along with good working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations.

It would be highly desirable if you hold a valid Quarry Managers Certificate or eligibility to qualify for WA Unrestricted Quarry Managers certificate.
