About the role

The role of Superintendent Mine Service is to provide leadership and support to the ventilation and services team to ensure successful development and implementation of ventilation / services strategies, plans and schedules. In this role you will also be responsible for the management of the service contracts associated with the role.

This position is based at Olympic Dam on an 8/6 roster (FIFO ex-Adelaide or residential)

In this role you will:
  • Prioritise health and safety, lead people, understand and manage risk, create vision and follow a plan to achieve the vision
  • Be a visible leader, capable of developing and maintain a culture of by engaging, developing and coaching your team
  • Ensure the health and safety of your people
  • Identify, build and develop capability within your team and ensure that they are enabled to achieve their maximum potential
  • Instil a culture of continuous improvement to improve productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness within the vent and services department
  • Ensure that production performance is measured against budget and implement and/or manage initiatives to ensure compliance with agreed plans
  • Lead BHP’s Operating Model and Visual Workplace for your areas, engaging the workforce and ensuring sustainability
  • Contribute to the preparation, management and review the operating budgets for the areas of responsibility
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with other department to share knowledge, experience and expertise in order to achieve business objectives

About You

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
  • Strong focus and commitment to upholding operating disciplines
  • Previous exposure to underground mining
  • Exposure to underground ventilation and dewatering strategies
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications is advantageous but not essential  
  • Demonstrated leadership and engagement of teams to support high quality delivery
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including presentation skills and an ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
  • Well-developed analytical and critical assessment skills
