Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance and Water, in the capacity of Superintendent NPI Water, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of water related infrastructure in the Central Pilbara region to ensure BHPB accountabilities are met with regard to external regulatory and internal water stewardship requirements for the provision of:  
  • Potable drinking water to BHP mining camps and site infrastructure
  • Management of waste water from BHP mining camps
  • Management of process water outside outside of the minegate

This infrastructure currently includes, drinking water source aquifers, borefields, large and small scale potable water treatment plants and storage tanks, various waste water treatment systems, water distribution networks and managed aquifer recharge systems   This key Leadership role will drive the continuous improvement of this diverse and growing portfolio working effectively and collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to:
  • Provide leadership and an overriding commitment to health, safety, risk management, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
  • Ensure high performance (effective and efficient) operations and strategic maintenance of water infrastructure.
  • Ensure that all work management activities are planned and consistent with a defined asset management strategy and executed according to plan.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and regulatory compliance systems and processes are in place and followed
  • Ensure appropriate supply/demand and utilisation forecasting processes are in place for assigned assets
  • Engage with Projects teams to ensure delivery of capital projects  including input into studies, design, execution, commissioning and operational readiness
  • Develop, implement, measure, monitor and improve appropriate performance benchmarks
  • Develop annual Operational expenditure budget and manage costs against agreed  targets
  • Coordinate ancillary contract operations with Operations, Site Management, HR, and Supply

About You

To be successful in this role you will be a highly collaborative and strategically minded leader who possesses either extensive experience in Water Management gained within a Utility or similar environment OR demonstrated leadership capability within BHP and a desire to broaden your expertise and knowledge within our business.   You possess high level influencing and stakeholder engagement skills. You are team oriented and safety focused with a demonstrated track record in working with others to achieve results.  
In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:  
  • Degree qualified in  Engineering, Science, Hydrology, Chemistry would be highly regarded
  • Post graduate studies in Water quality or supply systems would be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated operational leadership with the ability to lead a technically qualified teams
  • Sound understanding of risk management, regulatory environment and requirements
  • Extensive Industry experience
  • Demonstrated success managing and driving a complex Infrastructure Portfolio
  • A successful track record leading operational and maintenance resources   
  • Continuous Improvement focus

Location 
Mining Area C You will be based at our ‘Area C’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 5:2 / 4:3 roster.  Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
