About the role

Reporting to the Manager Engineering, this six to nine month opportunity will see you provide team leadership and functional expertise to drive world class delivery of the Capital Portfolio and Project Controls across all the BMA Operations, including the port and underground operations.

This role is responsible for the capital review and reporting for all BMA capital projects as well as managing Qleave, Engineering OPEX budgets and project scheduling.

Key responsibilities: 
  • Leading, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure opportunities are realised and supported;
  • Ensuring effective Project controls for Cost and Schedules are in place in order to develop, communicate and execute project work plans and allocation of resources;
  • Overall assurance of the BMA 5 year budget, focusing on identification and prioritisation of projects which provide the greatest value to BMA and align with the business plan;
  • Provide up to date capital and operating spend analysis and improvement recommendations to leadership;
  • Validates opportunity assessments and assigns projects above the Asset-defined threshold to Project Management or Technology;
  • Prioritises all projects for an Operation and inputs into the corporate alignment planning process;
  • Drives the culture to incorporate the importance of data capture and use within the daily routines of the organization;
  • Takes a critical view of framed opportunities from the business to ensure the stated value is probable; and
  • Understands how to apply the investment categories and succinctly articulate the need to invest. 

About You

To be successful in this role you will be an effective leader and a collaborative communicator with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously.

Your strong interpersonal skills are essential, allowing you to influence while also enabling you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels. You will have the ability to manage stakeholders across multiple geographical regions and thrive in ambiguous environments. You will be action oriented and strategically focused with superior problem solving, decision making and influencing skills.

You will have a detailed understanding of project management, project controls and capital assurance. You will need to be tertiary qualified in Engineering or Project Management have equivalent trade and industry experience to support the technical support requirements of the role as well as strong mentoring skills. Mining industry and SAP experience will be an advantage.
