BHP is establishing Operations Services and are currently seeking Production Superintendents to join the group. BHP Operations Services is a new team of employees who will provide production and maintenance services that have previously been performed by external contractors.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in establishing a high performance production execution team within BHP Operations Services. Reporting to the Manager Production, this challenging role will see you provide direction and leadership to a team supporting a truck and shovel fleet. You will provide direct leadership to Supervisors and Technical Specialists overseeing compliance with operating standards, procedures, work instructions and defined process to achieve optimal production outcomes. This position will be working on a 5/2/4/3 roster.

Your previous success in leading a large team, building a positive workplace culture and working in an open cut environment will be paramount in setting you up for success. This position will enable you to use your technical experience and leadership skills to coach and mentor your team, drive best practice and truly make a difference to operational performance.

About You

You will have experience in a Superintendent role and and have significant experience in coal mining environments. You will possess strong engagement, influencing and collaboration skills in order to achieve the high-level outcomes with your team.

You will also:
  • Create a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team;
  • Be a motivated, engaged and supportive people leader;
  • Provide input into planning processes with a focus on continuous improvement;
  • Have ownership of improvement projects;
  • Utilise your strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work across various stakeholders;
  • You will possess production experience, within a leadership role.
  • Tertiary qualifications are desirable, however not essential;
  • Coal Truck and Shovel experience highly desired.
