About the role

BHP are seeking a leader with strong focus on safety to join our Shutdown Execution team in Area C. Reporting to the Manager – Fixed Plant Maintenance the successful applicant will scope, prepare and execute maintenance shutdowns at MAC Hub. In this role you will be responsible for the following;

  • Drive the safe execution of shutdowns throughout the planning and execution phase, work in close collaboration with contracting partners and support functions, enable the safety outcome through effective risk management,  time in field, and establishing the safety standards and safe systems of work.  
  • Lead and coach a diverse work crew including BHP team members and contractors in the achievement of maintenance and productivity targets through regular interaction, informal reviews, development planning and communication of KPI’s for the area. 
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and internal functions to deliver on quality planning & scheduling of maintenance activities and logistics of the shutdown.  
  • Lead the collaboration effort with Superintendents from Maintenance, Production and Supply Chain teams to gain an agreement on aligning maintenance outages to support the delivery of production.
  • Oversee the compliance with the shutdown management framework and core routines for the 10 weekly rolling shutdowns.
  • Lead the continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of lessons learned post shutdown execution. 
  • Provide feedback to the Reliability function on quality and accuracy of preventative strategies. 
  • Contribute to the development of the Maintenance strategy and budget (foreseeable & unforeseeable corrective) 
  • Collaborate with the Supply function on delivery of materials and services and managing any deviation  from the
  • Work Management Budget. Liaise with the Supply in the managing the services contracts and provide feedback on the compliance with the contractual and performance requirements. 
  • Monitors the Maintenance function’s Actual cost and Forecast, comparing against the Maintenance budget.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following;
  • A safety focused leader who is able to champion safe work practices, set and maintain a high standard within the workplace and hold stakeholders to the same high standard
  • A highly effective leader who is able to manage time and prioritises in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Sound technical knowledge of Fixed Plant Maintenance is advantageous
  • Strong communicator who is able to form trusted relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.

You will be based at our ‘Area C’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out [insert roster] roster.  Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
