BHP’s Mt Arthur Coal is the largest individual coal production site in the beautiful NSW Hunter Valley region. Located less than 5 kilometers from Muswellbrook, we produce high quality, clean energy coal for international and domestic customers. About the role

Reporting to the Mining Engineering Manager, this challenging statutory role will see you responsible for the electrical engineering governance and technical stewardship over all electrical systems, standards and processes across the entire Mt Arthur Coal operation.

You will enjoy working with a variety of stakeholders, ensuring coaching and collaboration form part of your successful approach. You will be required to oversee the introduction of plant to site, assist the projects team to deliver site compliant installations, review and approve electrical specifications and designs, follow change management processes, audit installations, review asset and maintenance strategies, assist with incident investigations and review and maintain the electrical engineering control plan. You will be required to maintain your certificate of competency through attending industry forums and training courses.

Located in the lifestyle friendly Hunter Valley region working a 5 day roster, your previous experience in a similar type role will see you well placed for success in this great team atmosphere.

About You

You will possess a Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering and hold the NSW Electrical Engineer practising certificate (or equivalent) in line with the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulation 2017 [NSW], allowing you to perform in a statutory function as an Electrical Engineer.

You will be passionate about establishing and maintaining processes, systems and documentation to ensure that all electrical work is implemented to an impeccable safety standard. You will have experience with mining high and low voltage power systems, coal handling prep plant, electric drive trucks and shovels and computerised maintenance systems.

You will possess leadership capabilities, commercial astuteness, relationship building skills, well-developed communication and influencing skills, and you will be a key contributor to the continuous improvement of Mt Arthur Coal.  These key skills will enable you to deliver the following outcomes in your role:
  • Experience controlling, managing and being responsible for electrical activities and ensuring legislative compliance;
  • Capability to develop, review and authorise fit for purpose engineering standards, electrical procedures and documentation;
  • Well-developed communication and collaboration skills and an ability to work across various stakeholders;
  • A desire to play a role in mentoring all site electrical engineers and tradespersons.
