About the role

BHP Coal owns four accommodation villages in the Bowen Basin, and has a number of third party contracts with accommodation villages providing accommodation for workers of coal mine sites in the region. Reporting to the Manager Operations, the Superintendent Village Operations primary role is to lead the delivery of all village operational activities, in conjunction with the Village contracting partners, to ensure a superior village experience to the residents. The role is based in Central Queensland with working hours Monday to Friday. There is also shared requirement with other team members to be on-call out of hours. It is a requirement of the role that you hold a minimum of C class manual driver's licence.

In this role you will:
  • Lead a diverse team of supervisors, with a focus on fostering an inclusive culture within the team;
  • Manage the safe and efficient delivery of operational services and activities including facility management, the provision of food and village room allocation.
  • Oversee management of service contracts in the BMA portfolio, in accordance with the BHP Contractor Management Framework.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the portfolio by seeking and implementing strategies to provide efficiencies and lower operating costs.
  • Develop on-going plans to improve safety, service provision, sustainability and value of the villages.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs, manage expectations and improve service delivery.
  • Commercial management including contract administration, reporting, cost control, and variance reporting.

About You

An understanding of workplace, health and safety legislation (including OSHA) and Worker's Compensation will be beneficial. You will be passionate about leading a continual focus on workplace health and safety and enjoy working in a fast paced environment where no two days are the same. Energetic and driven, you work well with challenges, bringing attention to detail and have experience leading a team as well as the ability to influence external and internal and exe stakeholders. You will be able to demonstrate your commercial management having experience managing contracts which includes contract administration, reporting, cost control, and variance reporting.
