About the role

The Superintendent Water Technical and Compliance is a dynamic role, responsible for leading a team to provide operational, technical and compliance support for WA Iron Ore (WAIO) potable, waste and surplus water systems:
This role is tasked with ensuring assets within WAIO meet regulatory requirements for the:
  • Provision of Potable drinking water in accordance with industry standards and legislative requirements 
  • Management of waste water in accordance with the site specific DEP licence conditions and DMP regulations.
  • Management of surplus water outside the mine gate in accordance with the site specific DEP and DoW license conditions.

In this dynamic role you will play a key role in the BHP Water Stewardship program, take ownership of material risk controls for both water and non-water risks and manage multiple tier 1 & 2 contracts. 

About You

This role would suit an exceptional communicator with highly effective team management skills paired with ability to build relationships with key stakeholders within the broader business. Your tertiary qualification in Engineering, Hydrology or a relevant Science discipline will provide you the technical foundations for success, coupled with your sound interpersonal skills, you will be able to create influence and shape decisions. 

A key aspect of this role will involve external stakeholder engagement with health, water and environmental regulatory groups, previous experience in this area will be highly regarded.

Location 
You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues.
This role will also require ad-hoc travel to our WA Iron Ore Sites, approximately 1-2 trips per month.
