About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Fixed Plant Maintenance Mechanical, within the Mining Area C Fixed Plant team you will be responsible for ensuring the safe execution of Maintenance activities;
  • Ensuring conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Carry out responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner ensuring compliance with the BHPBIO Safety Systems and in line with Section 44 Accountabilities.
  • Oversee, direct and coordinate allocated personnel to ensure all tasks are performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Participate in Safety System requirements such as auditing, inspections and CRM activities, Planned task observations, Critical Control Observations as well as Critical Control Verifications
  • Manage all breakdowns using a planning methodology across our fixed plant assets.
  • Ensure all work is completed as scheduled to quality and safety standards.
  • Ensure data integrity by using the 1 SAP systems as the primary source of maintenance information.  
  • Ability to collaborate and support both Site, as well as Centralised Planning to enable the development of a Weekly Schedule that can be executed safely and as per Plan.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following;
  • Trade/relevant qualification in a Fixed Plant specific Mechanical discipline within an equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
  • A proven track record of safety management
  • Working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Strong technical supervisory experience within maintenance in a mining business
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills as well as an attention to detail.
  • Self-reliant contributor with distinctive proficiency in executing and supervising maintenance activities
  • A sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products as well as the ability to quickly grasp new technologies


You will be based at our ‘Area C’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 2/1 roster.  Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, Western Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
