About the role

We are currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced Field and Mobile Maintenance Supervisors to join our Newman Operations Mining Equipment Maintenance team.
Working on a Lifestyle Roster and overseeing multi-disciplinary teams, you will be responsible for ensuring that all Mining Equipment Maintenance activities are completed in a safe and efficient manner. 
Reporting to the Mining Equipment Maintenance Superintendent, your duties will include:
  • Collaborating with the Mining Production department in order to agree on a weekly maintenance schedule of work
  • Liaising with other maintenance functions to ensure alignment of work practices, standards and processes 
  • Coaching and developing of direct reports in order to build a high performing team 
  • Demonstrating visible safety leadership and promoting a zero harm culture
  • Ensuring dispatch and KPI reporting systems are kept up to date and reflect actual equipment status for down time and data is analysed to identify trends and target improvement opportunities
  • Support of the planning and scheduling processes involved in the development of the maintenance plan.
  • Execution of all maintenance within either the field or mobile teams on equipment including our Liebherr 996/9400 and PV271 blast hole rig fleets or the primary D10-D11 dozer fleets including other ancillary related equipment within the large open cut mining environment.


In this residential role, you will be based in Newman, Western Australia. You will be working at the closely located ‘Mount Whaleback’ mine site, which at more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. 

The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, watercourses and stunningly unique landscapes. As this is a residential position, you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

Lifestyle Roster

This position will work on our Lifestyle Roster, working a pattern of days and nights, with a block of days off at the end of each swing.  

Employees on this roster will align to the following shift rotation: 5D4X, 5N5X, 4D5X . Shifts are 12.5 hours including handover and you will benefit from additional shift allowances, as part of your remuneration package. As an added benefit, those on a Lifestyle Roster will also enjoy an additional week of annual leave per year.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
  • Previous supervisory experience in Field or Mobile related mining equipment maintenance 
  • Systems knowledge of maintenance processes (eg Work management, reliability, information management, cost control and budgeting processes)
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and ability to lead change
  • Ability to develop teams and effectively manage the safe execution of the maintenance plan
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement 
  • Heavy Duty Mechanical trade qualification
  • Minimum of C class manual drivers licence
