About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Port Maintenance Execution, as the Maintenance Supervisor you will be responsible for leading your maintenance teams with responsibility for weekly and long term maintenance of Dump Station, Stacker reclaimers, Shiploaders, ancillary equipment and Shutdown Maintenance as well as providing planning input to ensure the safe achievement of department objectives. 

This role is based in the Mackay Area at the BMA Hay Point Coal Terminal Site working a 5 and 2 day roster or continuous 5/4 day night roster.

In this role you will:

• Be first & foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing & coaching your team;
• Coordinate & direct maintenance staff & contractors to ensure safe & efficient execution of maintenance activities carried out on fixed plant throughout surface operations;
• Ensure timely resolution of safety issues, providing communication & consultation of safety related matters with work teams;
• Coordinate maintenance activities across shifts & other departments creating maximum value;
• Build relationships with other departments and employees to ensure any maintenance issues are addressed & resolved effectively in a timely manner;
• Encourage & promote continuous improvement by constantly looking for opportunities to improve work practices & procedures;
• Ensure planned materials, plant & resources are in appropriate place at the appropriate time; and
• Facilitate daily pre-start meetings & make field inspections to determine appropriate scopes of work as required.

With a focus on continuous improvement, you will present innovative ideas and be willing to go the extra mile and be enthusiastic about service delivery and passionate about delivering extraordinary results whilst provide assistance across multiple areas of the planning team.

The following qualifications and skillsets are desirable for success in the role:
• Fundamental Understanding of Asset Health across a range of Equipment
• SAP or similar CMMS software use
• Exposure to Management of Change and Continuous Improvement.

About You

To be successful as a Leader in this role you will have a relevant tertiary qualification or trade qualification with proven maintenance experience in Leading a team. Your strong focus on safety, drive and passion to lead and develop people to reach their potential will see you succeed in this role. Your people and communication skills are of the upmost importance as well as your relationship skills when liaising, negotiating and influencing a range of internal and external stakeholders. Previous experience with 1SAP will be beneficial.

The nature of the role requires you to be a people leader, a forward thinker and focused on process discipline. A background in leading high performing teams with a strong safety focus will be critical to the success of this position. The following qualifications and skillsets are desirable for success in the role:
  • Qualified Electrical/ Mechanical  Trade ,Engineering  Degree or similar
  • Experience in Maintenance or heavy industry
  • Experience with Maintenance Shutdowns or Project Management
  • Experience with Fixed Plant or materials handling / processing
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance planning software
  • Experience with Microsoft office software.
