About the role

As an IROC Mine Control Production Supervisor with BHP, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the Mine Control Team, providing leadership to empower and drive high performance. You will be leading a diverse team of people who work across 9 open cut coal mining operations, across both New South Wales and Queensland operations. You will be actively involved in field leadership activities and engaging your team to reach their full potential.  
Working on an attractive roster, this opportunity is well suited to someone with a strong understanding of open cut mining operations and fleet management systems.  You would have people leadership capability and be looking to be part of a team actively shaping processes and contributing to exceeding safety, culture and production targets. 

Additional duties will include:
  • Positively shape the IROC Culture in alignment with BHP Charter values;
  • Develop & maintain improvement projects for IROC Mine Control in relation to Mining productivity;
  • Taking responsibility for identifying and resolving systemic issues, and for assessing the potential impact on production, plant and equipment;
  • Actively participating in field leadership, safety meetings and managing  key safety investigations relevant to the team;
  • Completion of Performance Enhancement and Planning (PEP) process, build and deliver on Controller Development and Training Plans;
  • Work with Training Specialists, Duty Leader and Production Coordinator to continually improve Controller competency;
  • Promote standardization of best practice and consistency across your team and across crews;
  • Conducting primary stakeholder engagement as a single point of contact between execution teams, Mine Control and Production Coordinators.

About You

Your strong desire to work with your team to ensure they are safely delivering their best will see you well placed for success. Demonstrated operational knowledge in mining, fleet management systems and strong leadership experience with large teams.  Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across the team and across stakeholders. You will also ideally have:
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Experience in an open cut mining environment and fleet management systems (preferred);
  • Experience in successfully leading large teams;
  • A desire to grow your leadership capability through leading a team in a frontline supervisory capacity;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and strong decision-making skills to achieve the best outcome for safety, your people and production in the short and long term
