About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced people leader to take on the role of Supervisor Mining Production Autonomy within our Load & Haul team. 
Reporting to the Superintendent Autonomy, at our Jimblebar Mining Operations your duties will include: 
  • In partnership with 2 other Shift Supervisors you will be required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations. 
  • You will work to maximize compliance with operational plan by ensuring that all activities under the supervisors control are carried out in accordance with the operation plan and work instructions.
  • Provide day to day leadership to the production team, allocating duties to deliver the Plan and ensuring all development targets are supported and achieved.
  • Support and lead a dynamic and diverse team of skilled operators. 
  • You will lead by example and work with the team to uphold a positive and inclusive team culture.
  • By routine personal inspection and daily interactions, monitor performance of equipment and compliance with operating procedures

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:  
  • Experience leading, coaching and mentoring employees.
  • Have the ability to build a competent, engaged and disciplined team.
  • Ideally you will have experience in large scale open pit equipment operation 
  • Understanding of the Mines Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations is desirable but not essential. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across workgroups
  • Minimum of C class manual drivers licence

Due to COVID-19 and corresponding border closures across Australia, you ideally must be located in Western Australia or be prepared to move to Western Australia for this opportunity.  Further information will be provided throughout the recruitment process.


You will be based at our  ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 8/6 7/7 day night rotating roster. Jimblebar is the first Greenfield mine in over 40 years to be both developed and operated by BHP Iron Ore. 

Jimblebar is also BHP first fully autonomous mining operation and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia. The outstanding facilities at the  FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 3G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
