About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, personable and confident leader, who values individuals in their team and building constructive, respectful and mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders, to lead a team of safety professionals across the NiW Northern Operations. Existing within the broader Northern Operations Health, Safety and Environment team, this role has a regional focus, encompassing all sites within the Nickel West Northern operations, located approximately a 1 hour flight from Perth. This role is FIFO, existing on a 5 days on, 3 days off, 4 days on, 2 days off roster, the Safety Supervisor

This position reports directly to the Manager HSE Execution and is supported by the broader NiW HSE Team.

In this role you will:
  • Provide leadership to a Safety execution team consisting of two Safety Specialist personnel, to deliver a high level of Technical safety support to Operation teams across the NiW Northern Operations.
  • Coach and influence Leaders to  drive improvement in safety culture and behaviours across teams
  • Demonstrate and promote high quality outcomes and compliance to process in core safety practices such as investigations, management of change, risk assessments and audit / assurance activities, to ensure a systematic, disciplined approach to risk management
  • Provide technical safety support and input as necessary to deliver safety and compliance components of site, asset and broader Business HSE plans, programs and initiatives.
  • Analyse safety information to identify emerging trends and hotspots. Uses data to inform targeted improvement programs.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years in a similar position
  • A constructive, engaging approach to stakeholder communications, issue resolution and problem solving
  • A desire to foster a high level of team engagement and support your team to maximise their potential and realise development aspirations.
  • A commitment to field presence and field level engagement
