About BHP

At BHP we support our people to grow, learn, develop their skills and reach their potential. With a global portfolio of operations, we offer a diverse and inclusive environment with extraordinary career opportunities.  Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success. Come and be a part of this success.

About the role

BHP is currently on the look-out for talented and capable Security and Emergency Management Supervisors for our Jimblebar and Yandi operations.

These are permanent roles, based on a foundation of 8 days on 6 days off. In addition, there is an opportunity for a flexible work (job share) arrangement which may be suitable for those in pursuit of flexible work arrangements.

As a Security and Emergency Management Supervisor with BHP, you will be working in a dynamic and demanding environment, which will come with its own unique challenges.

Reporting to the Site Superintendent HSE, Business Partnering, this is an exciting time to join the team to facilitate great Security and Emergency Management outcomes through your leadership, coaching, direction and expert advice. This role will be based at either our Jimblebar or Yandi operations focused on passionately leading a team of security, emergency services and paramedic personnel.

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver excellent Security and Emergency Management service and continuous improvement in the delivery of emergency response capability through interfacing with colleagues and customers across the site and throughout HSE so that risks with Security and Emergency impacts are effectively managed:

  • Directly lead and sets the strategic direction for a team of Paramedics, Security, and Emergency Services professionals, and a growing contingent of volunteer Field Response Team(FRT) personnel;
  • Resourcing and maintaining an effective emergency response capability for site, aligned with the Emergency Management Plan and Emergency Response control design;
  • Assuming the role of On Scene Commander for all emergency events;
  • Ensuring operating discipline with regard to clinical treatment guidelines, drug management, routine inspection and maintenance of critical emergency response equipment;
  • Building capability in line leaders through governance and oversight of the site Incident Management Team (IMT); and
  • Liaising with the site Leadership Team to develop training scenarios to verify capability against the site risk profile.

About You

This role will suit a highly capable team player who is motivated to collaborate with site and HSE teams to ensure that everyone goes home safe every day to do the things they love.

You may have a Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue, Cert IV Health Care and/or comprehensive technical understanding of risk management and/or operational mining experience to hit the ground running, however it will be your attitude and character that sets you apart from the crowd.

If you’re ready to step up and take on this challenge, you will be given the opportunity to be a driving-force behind a cultural shift within the SEM industry and committing to true diversity and equality within its workforce.

Supporting a diverse workforce

At BHP, we recognise that we are strengthened by diversity. We are committed to providing a work environment in which everyone is included, treated fairly and with respect. We are an Equal Opportunity employer and we encourage applications from women and Indigenous people. We know there are many aspects of our employees’ lives that are important, and work is only one of these, so we offer benefits to enable your work to fit with your life.  These benefits include flexible working options, a generous paid parental leave policy, other extended leave entitlements and parent rooms.
