It’s an exciting time at Olympic Dam and opportunities like these do not come along often.

Olympic Dam is one of the world’s largest copper deposits in the world with unique challenges which generates opportunities for improvement to our world class operations. To support our Surface Operations teams we are creating an internal Technical and Planning centre of excellence, and these new positions are the lead roles for our Technical teams in Smelting and Processing.

Reporting directly to the General Manager Surface Development and Planning, key responsibilities for these roles will include: 
  • Demonstrating your technical experience and leadership skills through coaching and mentoring your team to deliver best practice technical support to our operating teams for peak operational performance;
  • Develop and implement technical projects aimed at sustainable improvements in operational stability and process efficiency
  • Make key decisions and hold influence in regards to the short, medium and long term technical direction for our Smelting and Processing operations at Olympic Dam; 
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement proficiency to partner with multitude of departments and areas across the organisation;
  • Ensure that governance and technical stewardship is adhered to at all times; and
  • Cultivating an exceptional culture through positive communication and collaboration.

About You

You will have substantial experience in a management role with experience working in Production / Processing environments. More importantly you bring passion and enthusiasm that will be critical to the success of the implementation of our centre of excellence.

Additionally, qualifications and experience required for the unique positions: 

Manager Technical – Smelter
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering – (Process / Metallurgy / Chemical)
  • Significant Smelting experience
Manager Technical – Processing
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering – (Process / Metallurgy / Chemical)
  • Significant Hydrometallurgical plant experience

Olympic Dam Mine is located 570km NW of Adelaide, and is supported by the township of Roxby Downs. Roster and residential arrangements are flexible and would be a matter for further discussion through the recruitment process.
