About the role

We are currently seeking Dewatering Mechanic’s to join our Maintenance Execution team at Jimblebar. 
These roles are fly-in, fly-out, from Perth to Newman, on a 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 off, roster.
We are in a position where we are looking for diverse experiences to join our team. This is an opportunity for an energetic individual, who enjoys physical work, to work across a variety of equipment and situations. Maintaining and installing new dewatering infrastructure and pipework – installation of bore pumps, removing equipment for blasting, re-stalling equipment, monitoring equipment and water tables. 
Partnering with experienced Technicians, you will be encouraged to grow your breadth of experience with full support. You will also contribute to continuous improvement projects in order to maximise productivity and safety outcomes. 
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, additional responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure conformance to the BHP Billiton Charter, Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations; 
  • Display an overriding commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental Responsibility and Sustainable Development;
  • Report all incidents;
  • Attend and participate in pre-start and safety meetings; and
  • Participate in continuous improvement and non-conformance register process.

About You

Qualifications
To be considered for the role we are seeking candidates with the following skill-sets:
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
  • Madatory: Trade qualification as either a mechanic, fitter or plumber; and
  • Mandatory: WA C Class Licence (HR Licence is desirable).
Experience, skills and knowledge desirable:
  • Previous mining experience within a dewatering team;
  • Experience with installation and removal or bores and sump/transfer pumps;
  • Experience driving fuelling service truck;
  • Experience working 12  hour shifts in field/pit;
  • HRWL: Forklift, Dogging, CV, CN; and
  • Valid Poly Welding certification - 
    • PMBWELD301 - Butt weld polyethylene plastic pipelines;
    • PMBWELD309 - Weld plastic using extrusion techniques; and
    • FPICOT2204A/FPICOT2206A Maintain and use chainsaw.
Location
Jimblebar is now an autonomous truck mine the first Greenfield mine in over 40 years to be both developed and operated by BHP Billiton Iron Ore. It is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia. The outstanding facilities at the brand new FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 3G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
