About the role

We are currently seeking qualified maintenance mechanics to join the Auxiliary Mobile Maintenance team at Mining Area C.
These roles are fly-in, fly-out, from Perth to Newman, 2 weeks on, 1 week off (7 days, 7 nights, 7 off) roster.

Reporting to the Auxiliary Maintenance Supervisor you will be required to apply your technical abilities and knowledge to: 
  • Ensure conformance to the BHP Billiton Charter, Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;
  • Display an overriding commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental Responsibility and Sustainable Development;
  • Perform Auxiliary Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance in all areas of - heavy commercial vehicle, mobile plant, generators, lighting plants, forklifts, EWPs and cranes;  
  • Follow specific maintenance programs and procedures;
  • Operate mobile equipment within limits of competence, training and experience;
  • Carry out checks on equipment as required;
  • Accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required;
  • Use of computerized maintenance systems (SAP), including time confirmations, raising notifications and closing work orders;
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with rescheduling of work, organising and coordinating resources, scoping of work and determining priorities when required;
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way; and
  • Execute tasks to a high standard and in a timely matter.

About You

To be considered for the role we are seeking out the following skill sets:
  • Mandatory: Trade qualified – Light Vehicle Fitter, Diesel Fitter, Heavy Diesel Fitter or Automotive Mechanic; and
  • Mandatory: C Class Licence.
Experience, skills and knowledge desirable:
  • 2 years’ experience in a relevant or equivalent role, with experience in a large scale mining operation maintaining light vehicles and equipment – Scania, Volvo, Fuso, Toyota,JLG, Hyster and CAT;
  • Air conditioning licence;
  • Strong auto electrical fault diagnosis and repair skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability;
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work well within a team to achieve outcomes;
  • Computer literacy and/or experience in 1SAP (desirable);
  • HR Class License (desirable); and
  • Forklift License (desirable).
You will be a motivated reliable individual with sound communication and interpersonal skills. You can work with minimal supervision and engage in team operation.

Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
