About the role

Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance, within the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at Mt Whaleback, your duties will include:
  • Overriding commitment to the BHP Billiton Charter, Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainable Development
  • Maintain all aspects of Equipment Maintenance including Preventative Maintenance, Modular Maintenance, Fault Finding, Rebuilds, Repairs, and Commissioning
  • Collaborate and work effectively with other Maintenance and Production team members, including Contractors, to better understand and manage Equipment Maintenance and resolve problems impacting on all areas
  • Facilitate and complete “Whole of Job Function” tasks, which include Pre Work, Preparation of JHA’s, Take 5’s and/or Work Instructions, Organise Materials, Execution, Test-Out, Hand-Back and Sign-Off of Work Orders
  • Carry out required Work Management duties and ensure that all Documentation and Data Entry is accurately completed and to a high standard
  • Undertake thorough Preventative Maintenance Inspections of all Plant and Equipment, reporting any defects or required future works
  • Prioritise efforts to reduce breakdowns and their duration, urgent unplanned events and interrupting work which disturbs planned and scheduled work
  • Accept a high level of ownership of Maintenance activities and equipment performance
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, attention to detail and quality of work
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Programs that result in higher levels of Plant and Equipment performance and availability
  • Maintain a high level working knowledge of Safety Processes and Procedures
This role is residential based in Newman on a lifestyle roster - 4D5X5N4X5D5X4N5X5D4X5N5X, which can include relocation of you and your family. You will be provided with subsidised rental accommodation including power and water subsidies whilst residing in Newman.   

The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalized town center and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.   As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

About You

This is an exciting opportunity for a safety-focused individual ideally with a mechanical background in maintenance within a processing environment.  

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following: 

  • Mechanical Trade Certified (Mechanical Fitter)
  • Minimum of C class Manual Drivers Licence;
  • Experience with safety management systems
  • Experience within a mining Fixed Plant Operations, including crushing, dray and wet screening plants.
  • Experience troubleshooting crushing, conveying and hydraulic systems
  • Experience with statutory compliance requirements for Mine Safety and Inspection Act
  • Demonstrated ability to approach work with a ‘can do attitude’ and work well within a team to achieve combined success
  • Display a sense of urgency to complete tasks on time
  • HIAB, EWP, Forklift, Dogging and Rigging Certificates (desirable)
