About the role

As the Technology Business Analyst, you will collaborate closely across Technology and be responsible for working with the business to frame requirements and develop plans to drive improvement in safety, culture and productivity. You will be able to identify and document process and system functionality for input into planning, design and implementation of either new or improvement to existing IT systems.

You will support the Vice President Technology and the Business Partners to support the development of Opportunity Assessments, handling the relationships and, through understanding their requirements and working with Technology functions, identifying the most appropriate technology solution options. You will:

Key duties to include;
  • Support areas of the business to build an understanding of the technology processes and requirements. 
  • Translate operational risks, priorities and improvement opportunities into technology requirements
  • Document and analyse processes  and requirements 
  • Provide input to technology projects engaging and integrating across functions, assets and operations for seamless delivery 
  • Facilitate the implementation, change management, adoption and embedment of Technology projects into business plans
  • Provide input into Technology performance, giving feedback to Technology functions on continuous improvement.
  • Scan industry trends and innovations, and their impact on technology.
  • Support Business Partners to collaborate across businesses other than relevant portfolio to both find opportunities for and showcase ideas in the Innovation and emerging business pipeline 
  • Collaborate with Technology architecture and operations teams to ensure solution compatibility with BHP standards. 
  • Facilitate UAT to ensure the efficiency, functionality and user friendliness of systems, including contributing and potentially developing test scripts.

About You

You will have demonstrated ability to be able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels within the business. We are looking for someone with a strong background within technology, finance or technical operational background with a passion for technology. 

Experience working within a matrix organization environment will be beneficial as will exposure to heavy industry such as mining, manufacturing, utilities etc.  

Criteria to include; 
  • Strong business acumen Proven analytical and problem solving skills, ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
  • Experience with a broad range of various technology environments, developing Business Case, User Cases, Business Process Modelling and/or Change Management.
  • Significant stakeholder relationship management experience across a broad range of technical and non-technical stakeholder groups
  • Operational experience is highly desirable.
  • Advanced facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in business process improvement; identifying inefficiencies and recommending optimal business practices, system functionality and behavior.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
  • Ideally some proven basic finance understanding of NPV, ROI, IRR etc.  

  • STEM Qualification essential
  • Formal training and/or certification in Business analysis (i.e. BABOK or CBAP, etc.) would be an added advantage
  • Further Business related qualifications are desirable
