About the role

Reporting to the Track Machines Operations Supervisor, your duties will include:
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Competently operate a variety of Track Machines including Ballast Regulators, Production Tampers and Switch Tampers on all BHP Billiton Iron Ore Pilbara lines consistent with Operating Rules, Regulations and Safe Work Procedures Applicable.
  • Operation of ancillary equipment of various types, including lifting equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of railway network including locations of sidings, signals and road crossings which forms signed Route Knowledge

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
  • Must hold a current driver’s license.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Track Machines (Operating and Driving)
  • Ability to use the Plasser ALC programme
  • Computer Literacy
  • Be able to pass a Category #1 Rail medical (Mandatory)

  This position is based at Port Hedland, Redmont, Yandi or Newman dependent on the work required on a fly-in fly-out 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster.  Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.   The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
