About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced Track Protection Officer to join our Rail Maintenance team. This role will be responsible for ensuring legislative compliance and accreditation of all BHP Railroad Operations. 

Main job responsibilities will include but not limited to: 
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Provide assistance in administering and managing compliance with all relevant regulators;
  • Determine the type of track protection required to perform work activity safely
  • Attend regular meetings held by the leadership group - including Planning meetings;
  • Ability to develop, conduct and review audits according to the Rail Audit Schedule, and implement findings and improvements;
  • Identify and manage risks;
  • Analyse and problem solve;

Should you select fly-in-fly-out you will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 2 & 2 roster.  Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.   The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.

The 20,000-strong population of Port Hedland enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.

Should you select the residential option you will enjoy the excellent sporting and leisure facilities which include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will ideally possess some of the following or be interested in developing the following:
  • Previous Rail maintenance experience within a similar role;
  • Track access trained and competent;
  • Current full WA Drivers Licence; (essential)
  • Cert 2 in Track Infrastructure; (essential)
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft suite
  • Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (1SAP) & LMS Training;
