About the role

Reporting to the Supervisor Training within Mining Production team, you will work with an experienced team of Trainer Assessors to provide a high level of training, coaching, mentoring and upskilling of trainees, contractors and current BHP employees. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Implement & deliver training & assessing of all operators based on BHP business needs and individual development plans.
  • To manage and implement training of all Production Trainee Technicians and ensure completion Certificate ii Surface Extractions
  • Provide training materials and ensure they are regularly updated in line with Safe Work Procedures, industry best practice and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure training records are stored and updated.
  • Ensure Production Trainee Technicians records stored and updated with registered Training Organization
  • Support specialist productivity training and monitoring via infield coaching and simulator coaching.
  • Support Mining Production Equipment Utilization Targets through operation of equipment
With this role you have the choice of either being residentially based in Newman or fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on an 8/6 roster. The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes. This role is fixed term for 12 months

About You

This is an exciting opportunity for safety focused individual, with strong leadership and influencing skills who also demonstrates a proactive approach to mentoring employees. As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
  • Ideally hold one of the below minimum level Nationally Recognised skill sets or Certification in Assessing:
    • Enterprise Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00015),
    • Assessor Skill set (TAESS00011),
    • Certificate IV for Trainer and Assessing OR
    • Higher level qualification in adult education
    • Or the ability and willingness to obtain the required certification.
  • Experience with Traineeships and Classroom Lead training desirable
  • Experience with Immersive Pro 3 Simulators desirable
  • An intermediate level of computer skills
  • Minimum of C class manual drivers licence
Experience operating and/or training & assessing Surface Mobile Equipment or equivalent:
  • Liebherr 9400, 996 or Hitachi 2500 Excavators
  • CAT 980, 992 or 994 Loaders
  • CAT D10 Track Dozers
  • CAT 16H/M Graders
  • CAT 854K Wheel Dozers
  • CAT 793 Haul Trucks
