Following the successful roll-out of our first fully autonomous haul truck fleet at Jimblebar in late 2017, the General Manager of Goonyella Riverside Mine site recently made the decision to implement autonomous haulage.

To support the execution phase of the implementation of Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) at Goonyella Riverside a Training Specialist is required to join the operational readiness team and work with Komatsu FrontRunner Trainers to up skill the workforce in mining and maintenance operations using the Komatsu FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System. 

This role will be will be site based operating on an 8 on 6 off roster either flying in and out of Brisbane or driving in and out regionally. 

Key duties of this role will include: 
  • Preparation of AHS training materials and assessment tools to align with BMA & Site requirements;
  • The facilitation of training in the Komatsu FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) utilising a range of interactive technologies; 
  • Liaising with line leaders to determine crew AHS training requirements and training administration teams to co-ordinate scheduling of training; 
  • Assessments activities to ensure sufficient numbers of the workforce are trained and deemed competent to enable execution and production schedules to be met;
  • Acting as a change advocate working with the operation and evaluation teams to continually improve safety and efficiency performance.

About You

Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years operational experience using the Komatsu FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and demonstrated experience in the facilitation of  best practice learning experiences for participants
  • An ability to train and coach learners with varying levels of experience with technology
  • Experience in influencing a range stakeholders through education, support and an ability to clearly communicate at the appropriate level to ensure understanding
  • A strong commitment to continuous improvement with a focus on improving training materials and delivery methodologies to improve the experience and efficiency of the training approach


Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or the Training & Assessor skillset is essential.

Komatsu FrontRunner Train the Trainer

Tertiary qualifications in Learning and Development or a related discipline would be well regarded however not essential.
