About the role

Based at South Walker Creek and reporting to the Site Systems and Training Superintendent, you will govern the design and execution of the training framework for the site. This role will be responsible for a variety of training activities including identifying local training needs and training schedule requirements, development of sustainable training packages and analysing metrics & reports.   

This role will be site based and offered as DIDO from Mackay or Moranbah with a roster of 5/2,4/3. Camp accommodation and meals are provided with flexible work options considered.  

In this role you will:
  • Contribute expertise to develop, record and oversee the assessment of training as outlined in the Training Governance Framework
  • Understand the impacts of training and coal legislation and apply this in your work
  • Identify training needs, and develop, update and continuously improve curriculum
  • Ensure controls, including critical controls are in place to effectively manage training
  • Provide specialist advice, execute analysis and benchmarking of the training function's end-to-end performance, in addition to identifying and implementing improvement initiatives that enable functional excellence
  • Develop a yearly training schedule to support site requirements
  • Govern the Review and Audit Plan for all training related activities
  • Build relationships with a range of key stakeholders
  • Be a proactive team member and show initiative in all areas of your work
  • Support, mentor and manage the SWC Training Administrator
  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Maintain accurate records and analyse key metrics and reports
  • Problem solving system issues: TAMs, LMS, eAssessment, and providing support and guidance to trainer/assessors
  • Provide training support and guidance for site based projects, Operations and functional teams

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment required, with relevant additional tertiary qualifications beneficial
  • Significant experience in a similar role within mining or heavy industry
  • Knowledge of statutory operational requirements and change management
  • Willingness to lead and implement change, as well as influence and mentor others in training and safety principles and behaviours
  • Ability to build highly effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders and working groups
  • Show initiative and work with minimal direction, being resourceful and proactive in your approach
  • Able to display effective communication skills whilst following relevant safety and work procedures
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
