This role is based at the Nickel West Leinster’s underground operation. It is a busy multi-deposit environment comprising a variety of mineralization styles and mining methods.Reporting to the Senior Underground Geologist you will be working as part of a close knit team, providing accurate geological information to the Technical Services and Mining Operations teams. It is a hands-on, sometimes challenging, role that will provide you with lots of opportunity to learn and grow as a geologist. Your main focus is collection and interpretation of geological and structural information such as face maps and samples, maintaining up to date level plans, core logging. Other critical tasks include daily tonnes and grade reporting, underground and ROM stockpile management, stope inspections, stope evaluation/reconciliations, end EOM reporting. Liaising with and providing direction for machinery operators, shift bosses, drilling contractors and management is also an integral part of the role.

About You

You have a proactive work ethic with a positive mindset and are ready to get your hands dirty. Attention to detail, great communication, problem solving and people managing skills will be a huge asset coming into this role.
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology
  • 1-7 years in a hard rock underground mining environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and to work in an agile manner
  • Current Australian Manual Driver's license.
  • Working at Heights desirable but not essential
