Our OperationsOne of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 roster pattern roster arrangement.

About the role

The Ventilation Officer assists in the management of the mine ventilation network on a shift basis through monitoring, measurement and analysis to support the established schedule.In this role you will:
  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Undertake statutory checks to approve access to mine areas in accordance to the schedule
  • Recommend partial or full evacuation of the underground workings as a result of surface fan failure or ventilation emergencies
  • Prepare and issue electronic Ventilation plans
  • Conduct airflow surveys of Raise Bores and Declines as per schedule
  • Review realigned schedule daily to identify potential risks associated with ventilation or activity interactions and communicate and/or resolve
  • Participate in any other projects or key tasks as directed by line manager or delegate

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Relevant qualifications in Mining/Ventilation preferred, but not essential
  • Mining ventilation experience, with a sound understanding of ventilation systems and networks
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different work groups and proactively engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Computer literacy - Spreadsheet skills, preferably Excel or Microsoft-based applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to proactively engage across multiple levels and disciplines
