About the Role

The purpose of this role is to enable work groups to safely execute their day-to-day execution of planned and break down activities, managing risk and safe work practices to meet schedules and productivity targets, thereby optimising track availability and reliability.

You will work alongside a dynamic team with a strong safety culture, who are aligned to the company charter values and approach challenges as opportunities to improve together.

Reporting to the Rail Execution Supervisor your responsibilities will include:
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • As an Appointed Responsible Person, ensure compliance with the requirements of the Rail Safety Act 
  • Supervising the day to day activities to enable the teams to safely execute work by managing risk 
  • Meet team Field Leadership commitments and expectations including critical control activities
  • Meet team Management of Change commitments and expectations 
  • Meet team work management commitments and expectations including investigations  
  • Monitoring of planned site progress and contractor resource capability and capacity
  • Coach, Mentor and performance mange team members that do not meet team expectations including culture
  • Build and maintain capability as per team requirements and training profile by monitoring LMS
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure required operating discipline is adhered to  
  • Conduct 1 on 1’s with team members and provide on-the-job training where required to Rail Execution Technicians 

About You

As the successful candidate, you will ideally possess some of the following or be interested in developing the following: 
  • Previous Supervisory experience / Experience coordinating work groups in a similar role
  • Previous Rail maintenance experience within a similar role
  • Cultural awareness training (Local Area) 
  • Track access trained and competent
  • Cert 2 track Infrastructure, Cert 3 Track Infrastructure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a range of audiences
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft suite, 1SAP and planning systems
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Administration and prioritisation including time management capability;
  • Sound judgement including balancing competing issues;
  • Current full West Australian “C” class motor vehicle license / A Valid ‘HR’ licence


Location 

Should you select fly-in-fly-out you will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 8 days on 6 days off roster.  Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.   The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning. 

Should you select the residential option you will enjoy the excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. In this position you will be provided with a rental accommodation allowance in accordance with BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Housing policy.
