About the Role
You will be accountable for timely and accurate container operations performance and processing for the Maritime team for all vendor procurement purchasing done within the Maritime team on behalf of our assets located in South America, Canada and Australia.
- Accountable for assuring zero compliance, governance or safety incident across the container operations in her/his portfolio
- Demonstrates in depth understanding of safety and environmental considerations for ocean freight transport and acts as a subject matter expert for his peers in the Procurement and WIL (Warehouse Inventory and Logistics) teams.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of and adherence to all relevant guideline documents in order to facilitate meeting BHP governance and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrates passion for delivering superior results; strives to continuously improve processes, systems or services.
- Demonstrates excellent customer (internal and external) service and communication skills and works with a sense of urgency.
- Engagement with BHP suppliers and BHP agents for BHP shipments supporting their training on BHP container process and requirements
- Engage with shipping liners for bookings, schedules, invoicing and disputes
- Engage with BHP agents to schedule and confirm inspections and packing surveys ensuing container packing guidelines are met, and documented evidence is stored
- Engagement with other Specialists/Principals and global team members to understand the requirements and communicate cargo statuses pre, during and post shipment
- Engage across teams to evaluate performance of the supplier and liner as it relates to movement of containers for BHP
About You
- Experience working with a shipping liner managing a global client account
- Fluent English, both verbal and written
- Spanish speaking would be ideal
- 3-5 years’ experience in container operations execution and managing end to end logistics operations
- 5 years’ experience in logistics operations and scheduling
- Experience in Container operations
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, shipping and or commodity trading or maritime economics
