About the Role

At BHP, External Affairs is a global function spanning Legal, Corporate Affairs, Internal Audit, Ethics & Compliance, and Group Governance. Together, these sub-functions are accountable for work that is recognised as integral to the current and future direction of BHP.

 

Based in either KL or Manila, this role will partner with and provide financial analysis and analytics support to the External Affairs global function. This is an interesting and diverse role with many opportunities for on-the-job learning and skill development.
 

It is a unique opportunity to work across all of our External Affairs sub-functions, alongside teams drawn from a diverse range of skillsets and geographies.  The role will be a permanent opportunity working Monday - Friday. 

 

Core accountabilities for this role include: 

 

  • Collect, interpret, analyse and manage data, including ad-hoc financial and data analysis as required.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports that support decision making.
  • Build and maintain financial dashboards to assist with self-service across External Affairs.
  • Undertake enhancements of reporting tools and dashboards, including automating reporting where possible and utilising data visualisation tools. 
  • Support forecast and budget preparation and finalisation.
  • Maintain monthly reports and similar documents.
  • Provide support for ad-hoc project management support and reporting activities. 

About You

  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or a related field will be beneficial. Professional qualification (CFA/CPA/ACCA/CIMA) either completed or currently pursuing will be an added advantage.
  • Analytical background with experience in building and maintaining dashboards (experience with Spotfire, PowerBI and similar dashboard tools will be beneficial). 
  • Experience with SAP applications for financial information analysis will be beneficial.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft office applications (especially Excel).
  • Strong expertise in data, project and time management, along with good organisation skills and proven ability to work with conflicting priorities and time critical deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work both collaboratively and independently as needed. Ability to be proactive in a complex environment with strict timelines, planning and preparing for key tasks in advance where possible.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and display an adaptable and flexible approach to supporting a large global stakeholder base.
  • Demonstrated record of maintaining high quality standards with attention to detail, accuracy and completeness. Shows concern for all aspects of the role.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral). Intermediate Spanish will be an advantage.
