Purpose

 

Contributes to growing sustainable value for BHP and communities, today and into the future.  Helps drive world-class performance of BHP’s External Affairs function through systematic planning, prioritisation and reporting; continuous improvement; capability uplift; and functional integrity. 
 

 

About the Role

 

  • Member of the External Affairs Operations team, with the opportunity to rotate through different teams in the External Affairs function.  
  • Contributes to team goals and activities, including embedding the External Affairs strategy and bringing it to life, enabling a One External Affairs culture, and streamlining the everyday.  
  • Conducts timely and accurate reporting to drive insight that enables internal and external customers to make informed decisions.  
  • Develops and communicates insights that guide data driven action and decision making.  
  • Defines and structures business problems to understand what can be addressed using analytics, designs analytics solutions and accesses and cleans data to prepare it for the analysis process.  
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.  
  • Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Sources information, plans and conducts analyses to support evidence based decision making.  
  • Identifies, implements and evaluates the success of continuous improvement activities/initiatives to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of BHP systems and processes.

 

About You

 

  • Excellent Microsoft Suite and Excel skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial and compliance data
  • Project management skills to coordinate new and existing programs and events
  • Attention to detail and strong commitment to BHP’s values/purpose  
  • Professional verbal and written communications
  • Business program focused on International Affairs, International Relations, Communications, Legal or Business.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work unsupervised
