We currently have a vacancy for an Asset Protection Officer, reporting to the Security Lead.
The Challenge Ahead
Join our Security team at Olympic Dam and play an important role in helping protect one of Australia’s most significant mining and processing operations. As an Asset Protection Officer, you will contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of security services across both operational and village environments, helping to protect our people, assets and business operations.
This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will respond to security incidents, support access management processes, maintain site security controls and contribute to a safe, secure and welcoming environment for employees, contractors and visitors. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will also support compliance activities, operational priorities and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen security outcomes across site.
Whether you bring experience from the mining industry, security services, emergency response, customer service or another operational environment, this role offers the opportunity to develop a broad range of capabilities while making a meaningful contribution to Olympic Dam’s success.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
You are someone who values safety, acts with integrity and enjoys working in a team-oriented environment. You have strong judgement, remain calm under pressure and take a professional approach to supporting both people and business outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A strong commitment to safety, security and risk management principles.
- Certificate II Security Operations
- Valid South Australian Security License
- Excellent situational awareness, attention to detail and the ability to consistently follow procedures.
- Sound decision-making skills and the ability to respond effectively in dynamic situations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A customer-focused mindset while maintaining security standards and operational requirements.
- High levels of professionalism, integrity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Adaptability and a willingness to support a variety of security-related activities across site operations.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and utilise site-based security and business systems.
Security, mining or operational experience will be highly regarded; however, we also welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate transferable skills, a willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to safety and service.
Key Responsibilities
As an Asset Protection Officer, you will:
- Support the delivery of security services that protect Olympic Dam’s people, assets and operations.
- Respond to and manage security incidents across operational areas and village facilities.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with site security controls, processes and village requirements.
- Manage access control activities, including Lease Gate operations and site access processes.
- Conduct proactive security activities to support the integrity of site operations.
- Perform drug and alcohol testing in accordance with site requirements and procedures.
- Complete accurate incident reports, operational records and other documentation.
- Contribute to security projects, continuous improvement initiatives and operational priorities as required.
Work Location
This role is based at Olympic Dam in South Australia and is offered on a 7/7 rotating roster, working both day and night shifts.
Flexible location options are available, including:
- Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) from Adelaide
- Drive-in Drive-out (DIDO)
- Residential arrangements in Roxby Downs
