About the Role

As a key member of our Field Services team, you will support BHP’s major operational sites across the Pilbara, including Newman, South Flank, Area C, Jimblebar, and Yandi. This is not a traditional fixed-location role—instead, you will travel between sites with a fully stocked mobile workshop, providing expert electrical maintenance and repair services to world-class mining and heavy machinery equipment.
In this unique and hands-on role, your responsibilities extend beyond electrical diagnostics and repairs. You will actively participate in setting up and packing down the mobile workshop at each site, ensuring the team remains self-sufficient, adaptable, and ready to take on any challenge.
This role operates on a Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) basis from Perth, with a roster of 8 days on, 6 days off, followed by 7 nights on and 7 nights off, providing a balanced work-life structure.
Key Responsibilities;
- Perform planned and breakdown electrical maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy machinery and vehicles, particularly focusing on electrical systems, wiring, and components for the Liebherr 9400, Liebherr 996, Liebherr 9600 and occasionally Epiroc PV-271, Epiroc D65.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical faults to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
- Set up and pack down the fully mobile workshop on-site, supporting the roving team’s self-sufficiency and adaptability.
- Work outdoors in variable Pilbara conditions, maintaining strong environmental awareness.
- Contribute to safety compliance and adhere to OH&S standards in a mining environment.
- Support a positive, team-oriented, and safety-focused work culture.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as an Auto Electrician, preferably servicing heavy machinery in mining or industrial sectors.
- Ability to perform electrical maintenance and repairs in a field environment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varied Pilbara conditions—heat, humidity, dust, and variable weather.
- Strong electrical problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently within a tight-knit team.
- Flexibility and physical stamina to support packing and transportation of workshop equipment.
- A positive, can-do attitude suited to a fast-paced, ever-changing work setting.
