What You’ll Experience as a BHP Geology Graduate
Geology sits at the centre of every decision we make in mining, and as a BHP Geology Graduate, you’ll help us understand the rocks, structures and ore bodies that shape our operations. You’ll work alongside geologists, geotechnical engineers and operational teams to build a deep understanding of the subsurface and how it influences mine design, safety and production. This is hands-on, field focused experience supported by teams who value collaboration, learning and wellbeing.
Depending on your discipline, you may contribute to activities such as resource definition, core logging and sampling, drill program planning, grade control, structural interpretation, geological modelling, geotechnical data collection.
Your work will support the safe, efficient and sustainable extraction of resources across either our WA Iron Ore, SA Copper or QLD Coal Operations throughout Australia and may be based in a residential community or operate on a Fly-in/Fly-out (FIFO) roster.
We encourage you to consider the commitment, lifestyle, responsibilities and opportunities each working environment provides. In addition, you will:
- Learn how the resources sector operates by collaborating with skilled people and contributing to real projects and business challenges.
- Strengthen your capability by building your innovation and problem-solving abilities to help shape improvements.
- Learn how to communicate effectively, while building core work skills like prioritising, managing change, staying curious and developing a growth mindset.
