About the Role
This role is based within our Mine Production Surface team who are responsible for underground backfilling processes (CAF & Paste), Surface Drilling, Quarry operations and surface material movements at Olympic Dam Mine. Reporting to the Lead Engineer you will provide technical support to the Backfill Execution team.
Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on 8/6 roster, with residential or FIFO options available. Alternative temporary rosters arrangements are available for the right candidate.
Key accountabilities of the role:
- Comply with BOS (BHP Operating System) routines applicable to your role
 - Review backfill mix designs based on CAF/paste exposure stability analysis
 - Monitor backfill strength, QA/QC testing, stope reconciliations
 - Development and revision of backfill procedures for both CAF & Paste operations
 - Ensure individual Field Leadership commitments are met
 - Providing support to the wider team for investigations, risk assessments, change management and updates to procedures or work instructions
 - Prepare inputs (3MRP, 5YP) to form the production plan and budget
 - Identify functional capability gaps and implement improvement opportunities
 - Compile reports & provide expertise to other teams in analysis of production performance indicators and metrics
 - Compile and maintain the portfolio of improvement initiatives (Wave) and loading capital requests in Planview
 - Provide feedback to the Planning function to improve future execution plans, designs, schedules and forecasts
 - Engage with relevant teams such as GT&S, MOPS, and Fixed Plant etc. for small projects or modifications needed to plant and equipment
 
About You
- You will possess Tertiary Qualification in Mining, Civil, Mechanical, Business Improvement or other mining related technical field
 - Proven ability to influence others to drive outcomes and work within a dynamic environment
 - Effective communication skills with the ability to lead teams
 - Ability to set direction, and solve problems from the bottom up
 - Learning agility, with a continuous improvement mindset
 - Experience in Backfill (Paste/CAF), operations will be an added advantage
