Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

About the Role

 

 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing preventive, reactive, and planned maintenance activities to ensure optimal plant availability and reliability.

These are residential roles based on 4 day rotating roster (Mon-Thur & Tues-Fri), located in Muswellbrook, NSW.

 

 

In this role you will be required to:

 

  • Undertake preventative maintenance inspections
  • Repair & service fixed plant equipment, attend breakdowns & maintain plant availability
  • Ensure operating discipline in 1SAP
  • Fault find equipment in breakdowns

 

 

 

About You

 

 

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Experience working in a similar role with exposure to maintenance work
  • Experience with mining/minerals processing environments (preferred)
  • Ability to work autonomously, or as part of a team
  • Ability to confidently make decisions relating to your work, or escalate if needed
  • Adaptable and responsive to change, as well as learning new information
  • Hold a Mechanical trade qualification
  • Minimum C class driver's license
  • Experience in fixed plant shutdown/maintenance
  • Hydraulics experience desirable
  • Conveyor Technician experience preferred, not essential
