About the Role

 

We have an opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to join as a Technician Mobile Communications to become part the team and be able to make meaningful impact. This role is suited to those with experience in maintaining vehicle-based communication systems. We are looking for someone who can work on their own as well as part of the team and are looking for further expand their skill set and abilities, while taking on a genuine challenge. 

 

The roles are based on our Western Australia Iron Ore sites in the Pilbara, on an 8/6 7/7 rotating days and night shift, fly in-fly out roster from Perth.  These sites include South Flank, Yandi, Jimblebar and Newman. 


Reporting to the Supervisor Autonomous Maintenance, this role will see you providing multi skilled technical and field support to the mining operations, which include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Digital Radio Communication network 
  • Fleet Management and Drill Positioning Systems 
  • Driver Fatigue Monitoring Systems 
  • Collision Avoidance Systems 
  • Communication Trailers 
  • Identifying and rectifying faults during inspections  
  • Maintaining wifi networks and associated hardware 
  • Maintenance of vehicle-based communications systems 
  • Scoping and creating 1SAP notifications for immediate and preventative work on fleet and equipment 
  • Initiating updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment 
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in implementing new initiatives in a constructive way. 
  • Executing tasks to a high standard and in a safe and timely matter 

 

 

About You

 

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

 

  • Tertiary Qualification or Trade Qualification certification in communications, electronic or digital radio field preferred but not essential
  • Communications background from Telstra/Optus or Military is highly desirable
  • Have a base knowledge of IT networks and IP addressing
  • Experience with, and knowledge of 12/24V vehicle-based power systems
  • Experience of Fleet Management Systems (FMS), GPS and wireless network systems (desirable)
  • Demonstrated minimum 2 years’ experience in a relevant or equivalent role
  • Multi-skilled across communications and electronics and can interpret and read maintenance plans and technical information
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve (including root cause analysis)
  • C class driver’s license.
  • Exposure to FIFO or shift work will be advantageous
