About the Role

 

Prominent Hill produces one of the highest grades of copper concentrate in the world.  Located 650 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Prominent Hill is part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations, and is located on the traditional lands of the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara people. The Condition Monitoring Technician is responsible for safely executing the sites planned and unplanned condition monitoring works. You will be an active team member, providing support to the requirements of the Condition Monitoring team, by adhering to operational requirements and striving for the achievement of individual, team and site objectives as directed. Your work will contribute to optimal production, equipment performance and availability, as well as improving reliability and ensuring that we are well placed for future growth within the mine.

 

Please note this position is based at Prominent Hill on a FIFO from Adelaide or Port Augusta basis, operating initially on an 8/6 roster arrangement.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Provide Condition monitoring services site wide in line with Business process
  • Ensure compliance with PM02’s maintenance work orders
  • Ensure timely resolution of safety issues and provide communication and consultation of safety related matters with work teams
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness within functional area
  • Provide analysis, troubleshooting and recommendations within level of expertise
  • Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement by constantly looking for opportunities to improve work practices and procedures
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships within the department to share knowledge, contacts, experience and expertise in order to achieve the department business plan
  • Provide timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem
  • Having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skills/knowledge in job-related areas; keeping abreast of current developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Demonstrate the ability and wiliness to gain the specific skills for the role
  • Exercise a proficient level of technical knowledge and expertise to independently make informed decisions

 

About You

 

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Mechanical or Electrical trade or engineering background
  • Ideally, you will have background in either condition monitoring or asset integrity who is willing to challenge the norm and is ready to step up and take the department to the next level
  • Technical skills such as Data Collection, Vibrational Analysis, Mechanical & Electrical Thermography, Laser Alignment and balancing of rotational equipment will be highly regarded
  • Experience in an 24/7 operational plant, heavy industry preferred but no essential
  • Minimum Vibration Analysis Certification Level 2 (VCAT II, preferably VCAT III)
  • Minimum Thermography Analysis Certificate Level 1 (TCAT I, preferably TCAT II)
  • Experienced in either condition monitoring or asset integrity management
  • Must be able to manage relationships well across all different levels of the business
  • Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (1SAP experience is highly desirable)
  • Be able to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Be comfortable managing and engaging operation stakeholders and contractor workforce
