About the Role: 


The BHP Operating System (BOS) is a way of leading and working that makes improvement part of what we do every day. BOS focuses on Serving Our Customers, Pursuing Operation Perfection and Empowering Our People.  
Reporting to the BOS Lead, this position is accountable for implementation of the BHP Operating System (BOS) and delivery of improvement initiatives for the site by effectively influencing, coaching and collaborating across departments and workstreams. 
As a Line Technical Specialist (Continuous Improvement Specialist), you will play a crucial role in driving operational excellence and enhancing productivity. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, implement best practices, and ensure the successful execution of improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:


•    Identify and analyse areas for improvement in mining operations, maintenance, safety and cost.
•    Coach teams to develop and implement continuous improvement strategies and initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
•    Collaborate with various departments to drive process optimisation and cost reduction efforts.
•    Conduct root cause analysis and problem-solving sessions to address operational challenges.
•    Coach and monitor teams to evaluate the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and make necessary adjustments.
•    Provide training and support to employees on continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
•    Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the mine site.
•    Prepare and present reports on improvement projects and their impact on operational performance.

 

About You

 

The successful candidate will have previous experience within coal mining and improvements 


•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Psychology or a related field.
•    Proven experience in continuous improvement, process optimisation, or operational excellence roles, preferably in the mining industry.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Understanding or exposure to continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
•    Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
•    Commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
