About the Role

 

Working with an exceptional team, based both at our Prominent Hill mine site and the Adelaide offices, this role offers a unique opportunity to develop and expand your experience in Remote Mine Operations Centres. Our state-of-the-art control rooms, both onsite and remote, are the heartbeat of our operations. We are seeking talented individuals to take on the dual role of Control Room Operator and System Administrator in a part-time capacity, contributing to the seamless and efficient functioning of our operations. This position provides a rare chance to be at the forefront of cutting-edge mining technology and operations, making a significant impact on our success and safety.

 

This role is based in BHP’s Export Park Office at Adelaide Airport and will be offered on a part-time basis (2 or 3 days per week)

 

The operational aspect of this role involves remotely managing a dedicated voice radio channel, which handles the underground signs hazard register, remote adjustment of the ventilation system, monitoring machine usage, and tracking statuses throughout the shift. You will also be responsible for monitoring other critical systems and processes to ensure we safely meet our daily targets.

 

Success in this role will depend on your ability to communicate effectively and engage with operators, team members, and site leaders whilst working remotely from Export Park in Adelaide. Additionally, the administrative responsibilities will require you to keep our fleet management systems up to date by accurately entering new locations and personnel into the system, validating, and reporting critical shift data.

 

Control Room Operations:

 

  • Monitor and manage real-time data and system alerts.
  • Manage the underground signs hazard register.
  • Coordinate with field teams to ensure timely response to incidents.
  • Maintain detailed logs and reports of control room activities.
  • Implement and follow standard operating procedures to ensure safety and efficiency.

 

System Administration:

 

  • Oversee the administration of our fleet management systems
  • Perform regular validation checks to ensure data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Develop and implement system policies and procedures.

 

 

About You

 

  • Previous experience in a mine control room or comparable environment is advantageous
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of underground mining environments and the regulations and safety protocols of this setting
  • Highly developed level of computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering strong safety culture based on open and transparent communication with all operational stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and to work autonomously to achieve individual, team and organisational goals
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, coupled with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions and work calmly in a high-pressure environment
